Updates: Rhodes, Waltz, and Upcoming Podcast

It’s been a while since I updated this, but plenty has transpired since the last post. We recently acquired a Fender Rhodes electric piano from Choby. He’s the same fella we got our beloved Wurlitzer from. It’s a tremendous instrument. Not only is the keyboard bigger, and significantly HEAVIER than the Wurly, it also came with it’s own speaker cabinets. They are huge, profoundly heavy.

It sounds just wonderful, and Mike K. has been having a good time getting acquainted with it. I need to get pictures and/or video uploaded of this beast. It forced us to rearrange our studio significantly; I’ve been flipped over to where M used to sit, so everything’s a bit backwards.

“Andy & Andrea’s Waltz” is coming along wonderfully - it features my Mid-Missouri Mandolin, electric guitar playing rhythm, and MK on bass and Rhodes. It’s pretty short (2 minutes or so) and has three parts. I can’t wait for you (and the happy couple) to hear it. We took Mike’s mixes out for a “test drive” last night, and it’s sounding great but still needs tweaking.

It’s been ages since a podcast, but we do have material and hope to get one going soon.

Congratulations on the new piano. It sounds like a great addition to the arsenal. I hope that Choby is doing well. Was this his first visit to Ferdinand?

Actually, he met me in Jeffersonville, I had to work. It was really busy and unfortunately neither of us had any time to chat. Sounds like he’s doing very well, however, and the Spasenie US tour seems to be wrapping up. I think…
